Robyn Gobbel on Lying

I've worked with foster and adoptive families for almost twenty-two years, and one of the problematic behaviors that I hear about most often is lying. Recently Robyn Gobbel put out an infographic that addresses this directly, and I wanted to share it with you. If you don't already listen to Robyn's podcast or have her book, I highly recommend them!

***********************************************************************************************

Lying is one of the most triggering behaviors.

It just feels so PERSONAL.

It's hard to remember that actually very little of someone else's behavior actually has anything to do with us.

Lying comes from a nervous system in protection mode.

And- I hate to break it to you - but it tends to be one of the last behaviors to integrate.

One of the reasons is because lying is actually a perfectly normal human behavior (though I definitely understand the kind of lying you’re dealing with is NOT)

I’m honored to be invited on your journey of parenting a child with a vulnerable nervous system and big, baffling behaviors!

Robyn
